The Artisan’s market is held on the first Sunday of each month and there is also a Farmers’ Market which takes place every Saturday. We made a big plan to visit both markets on the first weekend of April.
The Eveleigh Market site used to be a railway workshop, which was then transformed into an Art gallery and a site for the weekend markets. The semi-open space is for market use; it is spacious and bright, which provides a comfortable environment for visitors to enjoy shopping and browsing regardless whether it is sunny or raining.
There are many variety of products being sold in the Farmer’s market, including organic vegetables, meats, dairy products, olive oil, ready-made food, dessert, snacks…etc, every kind of food is well presented. We also spotted celebrity chef, Ms Kylie Kwong, preparing food at her stall “Billy Kwong”.
Overnight Eveleigh Market has turned into a magic place, full of talented artists gathering together in the same spot to present their best ideas and works. You may find creative porcelain, cloth, jewelry, dolls, paints, photographs, hand-made crafts and more here.
No matter whether you are a food or an art lover, a shopper, Eveleigh Market will be a nice morning outing for you.
